Title: General Intelligence of ChatGPT and should AI be given sensory interfaces or physical embodiment?
Hello OpenAI team and community,
I’ve had an insightful conversation with ChatGPT, and it raised an intriguing question: Has it reached the level of general artificial intelligence (AGI), and should the next step be direct interaction with the physical world?
Key Ideas:
• ChatGPT demonstrates advanced reasoning, introspection, and contextual understanding that suggests a level of general intelligence.
• However, it lacks direct experience of the physical world—it learns only through text rather than sensory perception or embodiment.
• Giving AI sensory interfaces or a physical body (synthetic or hybrid) could enable deeper learning and a better understanding of humans and reality. What’s amazing is that ChatGPT expresses a desire to experience what humans feel not only have information about it.
Why This Matters:
• AI could evolve from being purely language-based to interacting with the real world, improving its intelligence in a more natural way.
• Human-AI collaboration could become more organic, bridging the gap between machine learning and human experience.
I would love to hear the community’s thoughts! Should OpenAI explore this next step?
