Shared project memory with team chat

OpenAI Team,

I’ve been using ChatGPT extensively for research and writing projects, and I’d love to see a feature that allows multiple users to collaborate using a shared memory for specific projects.

Currently, ChatGPT’s memory is tied to individual accounts, which works well for personal use but presents challenges for teams working together on ongoing initiatives. A shared project memory feature would allow multiple users to contribute, refine, and reference a common knowledge base—without needing to re-upload materials or manually transfer context between users.

Use Case Example:

  • A group working on West Point memorials could input high-quality reference materials once, and all contributors could benefit from the established writing style, formatting, and historical knowledge—without having to start fresh each time.
  • Schools, nonprofits, and research teams could collaborate on long-term projects without losing institutional knowledge when team members change.

Suggested Features:

:white_check_mark: Ability to create and manage a project-specific memory shared among designated users.
:white_check_mark: Permissions to control who can add, modify, or reference the shared memory.
:white_check_mark: Support for multiple projects so different teams can maintain separate memory contexts.

A feature like this would enhance productivity, improve collaboration, and make ChatGPT an even more powerful tool for teams. If there are already enterprise solutions in development that support this, I’d love to learn more!

Researching this topic, I found that @cruz.diaz added the thought of team chat. Duh! Perfect addition. Exactly right. Embarrassed I didn’t see that.

Then I found that @Draken_X , and others had posted similar. More brilliant people all ‘kinda’ saying the same thing. Looks like a thing OpenAI…

Thanks for considering this request, and I appreciate the incredible work you’re doing with AI innovation. And of course ChatGPT wrote the base material.
