I’d like to suggest a feature that allows users to save and load AI memory files locally on their devices. This would provide long-term storage for ongoing projects like novels, world-building, or sequels without relying solely on server-based memory.

The Problem:

• Current memory constraints make it challenging to manage large or long-term creative projects, especially for writers working on immersive worlds or series.

• When projects grow in complexity, memory runs out, forcing users to delete key details or lose continuity.

• For sequels or multi-book stories, it’s nearly impossible to preserve old lore and progress without sacrificing new ideas.

The Solution:

• A device-stored memory feature would allow users to save their project’s AI memory as a small file on their device (e.g., “MyNovel_Memory.ai”).

• Users could load this file when they return to the project, bringing the AI up to speed without relying on limited server memory.

• This would shift storage to the user’s device while freeing up OpenAI’s server resources.

Benefits:

Great thoughts. I’d settle with a memory meter right now. It would be good to know when GPT just has to restart because it’s out of memory.
