Separate Privacy Toggle for Media Storage (Voice & Images)

Env:

Latest Public Release

All platforms (Web, iOS, Android)

Problem or Limitation:

Currently, privacy controls do not allow users to independently manage storage of media (voice recordings and images) separate from text chat history. Users who want to retain text conversations but exclude stored media do not have granular control to do so.

Feature Request:

Add a separate toggle within Privacy Controls that allows users to disable storage of media (voice and image content) independently from text chat history.

Proposed Behavior:

  1. Introduce a new toggle labeled “Store Media Content (Voice & Images)” under Privacy or Data Controls.

  2. When disabled, voice recordings and uploaded images are not saved to account history or long-term storage.

  3. Text conversations remain unaffected and continue to be stored according to existing chat history settings.

  4. If media storage is disabled, display a brief notice informing users that media content will not be retained after the session.

Context / Use Case:

Some users prefer maintaining searchable text chat history for reference while minimizing retention of sensitive media content such as voice recordings or images. This feature would provide greater privacy control and flexibility, particularly for users handling confidential or personal visual/audio data.

Related request:

Hey @torrentula993, this makes a lot of sense. Having a separate privacy toggle to control whether voice recordings and images are stored, while still keeping text chat history, would be a nice bit of control. I don’t have a timeline to share, but feedback like this is useful signal for where things could improve. I’ll pass this along internally.
