SearchGPT: Interactive Presentation-Style Visualization Mode

Dear OpenAI Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

I would like to share an idea that could enhance the SearchGPT experience, transforming it into something even more interactive and visual. I propose a sequential visualization mode that turns searches into a presentation-style format, combining real-time generated responses with a more dynamic and structured visual interface.

How would this visualization mode work?
This new approach would organize the information and images retrieved during searches into a visual structure similar to interactive slides. Here are the main features:

  1. Dynamic Slide Generation:
Each search would automatically generate a slide containing:
  • A summary of the retrieved content.
  • Relevant real-time images.
  • Key data points organized in highlighted sections.
  1. Fluid and Logical Navigation:
Search results would be presented as a sequence of slides that users can explore linearly or rearrange according to their preferences.
  2. Real-Time Customization:
  • Users could adjust the focus of the slides, choosing to display more text, graphics, or multimedia content.
  • The ability to add notes or additional links while navigating.
  1. Export Mode:
This visual structure could be easily exported to presentation formats like PowerPoint or PDF, ideal for educators, researchers, or professionals.
  2. Immersive Experience:
  • A full-screen mode where the model’s responses and relevant images are presented attractively, with smooth transitions.
  • Perfect for users who need not only to search for information but also to organize it quickly for sharing or studying.

Practical Applications:

  • Education and Learning: Students and teachers could generate presentations directly from their searches.
  • Research: Structure findings in real-time to facilitate analysis and comparison.
  • Professionals: Prepare quick and visually impactful reports based on searches.
  • Creativity: Explore ideas with a visual narrative that inspires creativity.

Invitation to the Community:
How could we implement this visualization mode to enrich the SearchGPT experience? What technical or creative challenges might arise when combining real-time information generation with this visual approach?

I hope this idea is of interest and that we can explore its development to offer new ways of interacting with information in the era of artificial intelligence.

Best regards,
David MM

Nobody would like the Internet Browser 2.0, which honestly surprises me a lot. I think I haven’t explained myself well, so here are some examples of how this system could work:

Example 1:
Imagine sitting in front of your computer or using your phone and simply saying you’d like to visit Italy, for instance. Automatically, the LLM starts talking about historical places, points of interest, restaurants, etc., while you see interconnected images of those locations on the screen.

Example 2:
You ask the system about the structure of water molecules, for example, and immediately, along with an audio explanation, it displays images related to the topic. And it could work this way for any kind of query.

Example 3:
Suppose you request information about a historical figure. The system would provide a description of their personal life and story while showing images of them, their country, and relevant historical events.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas for innovation regarding a system like this.

It’s a neat idea they have the 4o search but a more user customization of advanced search features would be neat :infinity::four_leaf_clover::rabbit::repeat:

I believe this is the future of internet browsers.
I know I’m talking about very advanced technology, but it’s clear this is how it will be: more dynamic, more interactive, more convenient, and more intuitive. Being able to visualize and listen to content opens a whole new world for navigating cyberspace.

It will be something complementary to the traditional text-based search method read by the user.

As of today, I use GPT to browse the internet, but I can clearly see its shortcomings. It lacks that interactive component. When I ask for information, it finds it and tells me about it, but there’s no visual dynamism with images.

For example, when I ask it for the latest news, it performs its function and tells me, but I’d like to see the newspapers it’s basing the information on, the TV channels where it was broadcast. When I ask it to talk about certain topics, this lack is noticeable.

If agents are added to this form of browsing, it will spark a new revolution in communication.

Yes IMO AI will replace browsers and search engines. It will become a system much like a search engine browser like in the early days of computing. Netscape navigator is a good comparative.

I would like to know more in depth what perspective you have on how browsers will be in the near future, it seems.

Hi!

Your idea is fantastic! Many times, I feel that something quick and visual would help me more than reading and reading, only to discard the information after 3 minutes because it’s not what I’m looking for.

I think there would be times when I wouldn’t want this feature, but other times I definitely would.

A great option would be to have a button to activate this function whenever needed. This would also help manage server usage better, as they sometimes can’t keep up. Plus, it would adapt to each user and their preferences.

The main issue I see is with the audio—it should use the new voice model since it allows interruptions. The other one (which I personally like much more) doesn’t let you talk until it finishes speaking, and sometimes it talks more than my neighbors in the building hallway!

But having this option available would be :ok_hand:.

Best regards,
Tania

Social media innovated in a way to read text, view videos, and integrate different media. Even in communication, we can send GIFs across various platforms. Applying all these concepts to internet browsing is a logical step forward.

This is such an interesting topic @DavidMM . @phyde1001 and I were fascinated by the search engine on gpt4 before it came out as a “feature” :rabbit::infinity::heart::four_leaf_clover:

I also find it fascinating and use it frequently, but what happens is that I have to struggle with it a lot, and honestly, I don’t like that, especially when it comes to the most current news and things like that.

I had the perspective that, by giving it a browser, this system would update in real time and, when discussing a topic, would look for the most up-to-date data without needing to explicitly say, “search this on the Internet.” In other words, I imagined it as continuous training based on the Internet.

We can dream
