Search within projects the same as chats

Hello OpenAI Team,

I would like to suggest a feature enhancement for ChatGPT: the ability to perform a global search across all chats and projects. This would significantly improve productivity and accessibility, especially for users managing multiple projects.

Currently, searches are limited to the active project or conversation, making it challenging to locate specific information stored in other projects or chats. A global search functionality would allow users to efficiently find relevant data without manually opening each project.

I have a chat with a keyword and a project newly created and started moving chats with the same keywork into it. when refreshing hte search the chats moved into the project are no longer returned.

If this can be done, showing the search results and marking the project they are in would be helpful part of the search results.

Thank you for considering this enhancement. It would greatly enhance the usability of ChatGPT for project management.

This used to be there a week ago and disapperared after an update. I spend lieterally 10 minutes browsing through my projects to be able to create a new thread in it. please bring back the project search button or a scroll to the project on the left sidebar

Thanks for flagging this, @Nicrox. This one’s definitely confusing.

A new sidebar search now covers chats, projects, images, and documents on web, iOS, and Android. (OpenAI Help Center) Which platform are you using?

Try updating or restarting the app, signing out and back in, or refreshing the browser. If project search still isn’t showing, please create a support ticket at support@openai.com and include a screen recording of your ChatGPT sidebar.
