Request: Exact image overlay for apparel visualization

Feature Request: Exact image overlay for clothing mockups (e.g. aprons)

I’m working on realistic fashion visualization — placing a real clothing item (like an apron) onto a photo of a model. The goal is to maintain every exact detail of the original: pattern, layout, proportions, stitching.

However, DALL·E currently recreates a “similar” apron, but changes elements:

  • Floral patterns get replaced or rearranged
  • Belt/knot placement is ignored
  • Original image layout is lost

:light_bulb: Suggested feature:
A toggle that allows exact transfer of the provided image onto a human model — just adjusting size and perspective, but preserving the design pixel-perfect.

Use case: clothing designers, small fashion brands, digital mockups — without needing 3D skills or photo studios.

This would be a game-changing feature. Is it something OpenAI could consider for future DALL·E updates?

Just to add more detail, we have tried many approaches (hand overlays in Photopea, quick changes in DALL E, painting methods), but nothing fully preserves the submitted design.

We are not looking for creative interpretation - we need precision. Accurate flower patterns, stripe placement, proportions - all true to the original photo.

If this were possible, it would save many hours of work for designers and help small brands stand out.

This side-by-side comparison shows:

  • Real model photo
  • Original apron product photo
  • AI-generated result from DALL·E

Notice the changes in flower patterns, waistband placement, and trim design.
