Removing the Edit Button on ChatGpt querry window

Dear OpenAI,

I’m canceling my ChatGPT Plus subscription because of the recent removal of the “edit message” feature. As a professional writer and researcher, the ability to revise prompts and correct errors is critical. This feature was essential for meaningful, productive dialogue with the AI.

Removing it undermines the usability of the platform for anyone who takes their writing seriously.

Unless this decision is reversed, I’ll be using Grok and other platforms that respect user agency.

Sincerely,
Andy

I’m in the same situation. I use ChatGPT for dev and a lot of other things.

Not having the edit button for the first message(s) of a conversation breaks my balls.

It’s not a cache or cookie issue, it’s the interface.

Result: I spend more time on grok.com and I’m clearly going to stop my OpenAI subscription. I don’t understand what idiot thought it was a good idea to prevent editing the first prompt. Apart from forcing the creation of hundreds of clone conversations by this lack of feature alone.

What’s more, the js script used to reappear the “edit” button at the start of the year doesn’t work, as “.hidden” no longer seems to be linked to the loss of the first message edit button.

Your only job outside the API is to provide us with an endpoint and an interface. Please do your job OpenAI.

Apparently the button for editing the first message has reappeared. For me, the problem is solved!
