It’s incredibly frustrating to encounter this issue on my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, and you’re right—it appears to be affecting many users. The recurring ‘something went wrong’ error when using the text-to-speech feature for longer passages poses a serious challenge, particularly for those relying on it for accessibility or workflow purposes.
Despite numerous reports and attempted workarounds, a clear solution has yet to emerge. The disappointment is understandable, especially considering the associated costs of these services. Hopefully, by continuing to raise awareness and reporting the problem, the developers will prioritize a fix for this essential feature.
Read aloud doesn’t work on my upgraded mobile Android app, I’m a Plus user. I’m surely sad about this. I hope this message helps solving the problem. I’m here ready to help. Thanks.
I’ve been having the same problem and did everything but nothing works and it seems no one knows how to fix it either. It seems like a bug on mobile version, it works fine on the PC. I hope they can fix it soon.
This has been going on for too long WITHOUT any form of communication…
We get things dont always work but in this case we assume you dont care.
Reminds me of a few conpanies whos product sold quicker than what their infrastructure could cope with.
May I remind you… when personal users dont have a good experience then why should they introduce it into their businesses (small to Enterprise level) ?
I’ve been having this issue for over a week probably 2 weeks.
After archiving all of my chats to keep them safe, just now, I cleared my data my cache uninstall the app and still nothing. And now I’m even having trouble starting today November 2nd 2024, with voice feature on the app. My Google Voice works on the app so I’m using that. But the app writes everything without me having to say Period or Question Mark.
There’s a Reddit thread of people talking about this since October 29th as well. So with this many people it is the app. The update has some glitch somewhere.
I can confirm that using my phone to access the web version does allow me to use the read aloud feature. It’s a less convenient workout, as you cannot pause or choose your place like the app. You can only stop it and have it start over from the beginning.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Google pushed some android service update changes to their os’d phones to break mic compat and slow down the quality ux advantage openai gets through the most used and dominant mobile platform on earth. Hint not iOS.
Otherwise open AI this is unexcusable because this app is almost unusable without this feature when I drive and do things throughout the day. Otherwise there is a workaround use web browser and desktop mode I create a shortcut to this as an application so it’s standalone and then I use my phone’s text to speech accessibility feature with a low opacity floating icon and activate on demand and then drag over a very large selection of text within the web browser area
You email open AI… I’ve emailed them several times and they’re not even acknowledging that they’re working on it or anything they just told me I could use the read aloud function on the website but they told me I could get a refund if I wanted one… I got the email this morning so I don’t know I can’t believe they weren’t even transparent about anything… They didn’t even acknowledge that it was a problem just told me what I could do like get a refund and go to the website and use the read-aloud function but no apologies no explanation nothing… It’s a crappy company… I knew that a long time ago
