Questions Regarding OpenAI's Implementation of the C2PA Standard for Generative AI Images

Hello everyone,

I am currently working on my Master’s thesis, which focuses on Content Credentials and the implementation of the C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) standard. I have two questions regarding OpenAI’s application of this standard in the context of generative image creation:

  1. Why is the metadata flag is_ai_generated set to false for images that are clearly generated by AI?
  2. Which version of the C2PA standard has OpenAI implemented?
I am asking this because the claim_generator_info field has been a mandatory piece of information since version 1.1 of the C2PA standard. This information is missing in all images generated by ChatGPT.

I would greatly appreciate any insights or clarifications from the community or OpenAI team regarding these questions.

Thank you in advance!
