QoL (Quality of Life) API Feature Requests based on 12 Days of Christmas

Thank you for the tremendous innovation and relentless focus on making the technology available and accessible. Some of these requests may be addressed or may be in the works for the remaining 3 days :sweat_smile:

  1. (No longer needed) - Assistants API - Support csv file uploads ( using code_interpreter) doesn’t work, certain use cases such as financial scenario planning need quick upload of csv files.
  2. (No longer needed) - Assistants API ( playground) - support o1 series of models
  3. Chat API - We find this pretty powerful for our use cases with an external vector database. Any chance of supporting the document upload capabilities similar to Responses API ( Formely- Assistants API )
  4. ( Done !) Evaluations - Please make this available via an API - great tool!
  5. (Reasoning Models are actually good at doing this natively - Multimodal Embeddings Model (ColPali or CLIP) - I heard / read in the forums this is coming - pdf’s with images , powerpoint with charts, maps are still cumbersome to process via APIs

April 2025 asks
ChatCompletionsAPI - Ability to perform document uploads, annotations/citations support with external vector database. Why: Allows backward compatibility and ongoing incremental software development work while newer use cases for agentic workflows are built using Responses API.
