OpenAI, this has to stop.
For months now, OpenAI has been quietly adding new IP ranges to the list at https://platform.openai.com/docs/actions/production without any proactive communication to developers, API users, or the community.
This regularly breaks production applications worldwide that rely on IP restrictions for security and compliance. It is unacceptable that there is no formal process to notify developers of these changes.
And now, we have proof that OpenAI has gone even further: The IP 23.98.186.167 was recently added and is being used for GPT Actions without even updating the official IP range list!
The consequences:
- Applications with strict API security measures fail unexpectedly.
- Businesses relying on GPT integrations lose functionality without warning.
- Developers are forced to scramble and manually track down the issue.
OpenAI, fix this now:
- Implement a formal notification system β Email/API alerts when IPs change.
- Maintain an up-to-date, accurate IP list β No more stealth updates.
- Be transparent about infrastructure changes β This affects real businesses.
If OpenAI wants GPT Actions to be taken seriously in production environments, basic API stability is non-negotiable.
Developers, speak up! If your app has been affected by these undocumented changes, share your experience below. Letβs make sure OpenAI cannot ignore this any longer.
