OpenAI | Yubico - Just got my yubiKey in today

My yubiKey came in today and I just got it set up. Super smooth and I must admit I do feel much more secure with “Advanced Security” enabled. Anything else I should do or keep in mind with my new power? Who else already has a hardware key?

Hello,

I noticed that two of my replies were hidden following community flags.

My intention was to contribute a technical perspective to the discussion about reported usage changes. I was not intending to dismiss anyone’s experience, promote a product or service, or make claims about OpenAI’s internal systems.

I would appreciate a staff review and, if possible, clarification about what part of my posts was considered inappropriate or inconsistent with the guidelines. I’m happy to adjust my participation accordingly.

The staff that would review a community flag (and flagging strong enough to result in hiding) is this forum’s moderators. They will either agree with or decline to enforce a flag made by other members.

They might review a particular post or a posting pattern of a particular account, such as whether that account has a pattern of posting undisclosed AI-generated output as responses which implicitly represent the response as being by a human, which is a violation of OpenAI’s terms of use. Responses that could come about by merely feeding the topic into an AI and saying, “write a reply”, one which has no insight or value addition.

I am a student currently learning AI, Python, and AI engineering. I do not have professional industry experience yet, but I am actively building projects and developing practical skills through hands-on learning.

I am a student and do not have professional experience in this field yet. I have been learning through hands-on practice and using AI tools to help me understand context, research topics, structure my thoughts, and draft answers. I review and learn from the AI-generated output rather than presenting it as professional experience.

Then, as a student - you might try learning and investigating about the particular topic you are considering replying to, such that you can answer by first-hand knowledge.

For example: can or did you even infer which OpenAI product the Yubikey authentication is being used with, or did you even hear of a Yubikey before today? Can you provide a walk-through of the prior idea of a needed recovery process, if one is or isn’t already in place where you can describe its procedure, or other scenario of a lost or damaged passkey device?

Here’s a starting point:

Then corroborate your ambiguous suggestions with your explorations of what is actually offered:

The pattern of direct copy-pastes that carry AI rhetoric, seem to speak falsely from authority, and present lack of product understanding, is tell-tale in your past forum postings.

I’m sorry. You’re right to point this out. I was relying too much on AI-generated answers instead of properly researching and understanding the topic myself.

I’m still learning, and I should have verified the information and been clear about what I actually knew versus what I was inferring from AI. I also understand your concern about presenting AI-generated responses with more authority than I had earned.

I’ll take this as constructive feedback and improve how I research, verify, and respond going forward. Thank you for pointing it out.
