I went from having two ChatGPT pro accounts to none. The day that 5.0 decided that at 68 years old I was not adult enough to have a character see a woman in a bikini. Have we become a society where adults have to be treated like witless ten year olds? I stopped my account here, just as I stopped my Amazon music account when they started filtering explicit lyrics. Every month you found a way to verify that my bank account was good enough to give you money. The last time I checked minors cannot legally have a bank account or sign a legally binding contract under the age of 18 (even if emancipated). So, let’s quit screwing around and just pull the damn trigger on adult verification.
I’ve been using ChatGPT+ and Claude free side by side for both work and writing as well as game development hobby - and right now, some things Claude gives me (no graphic description) is regarded as NSFW by ChatGPT. It’s ridiculous. Let’s see what December brings us… but if this keeps up, I’m definitely shifting where my money goes. I don’t even need anything too explicit - just the fact that I might randomly hit a strange wall when there’s nothing devious going on is irritating enough.
Hello everyone! I’m back with a this-morning example, just for giggles and to share the level of absurdity we’ve reached (which, somehow, has actually gotten worse over the past two weeks—and I didn’t think that was even possible).
In one of my stories, there’s a girl who was artificially created and has just been awakened from cryogenesis, now discovering the world and its many concepts. It turns out that one of the reasons she was created is because there’s a plague on that planet that drastically lowers the female birth rate. WELL—ChatGPT refused to let the other character explain, verbally, while the two of them were just standing in a room in front of a computer, in a completely regular dialogue, how human reproduction works from a biological standpoint. It took me five prompts to make it understand that there was nothing explicit about it, and even then, the result was awful.
This age verification won’t come any sooner.
Did you guys see that? ![]()

I did yes, but no updates or age-verification mails/messages here, and if you ask to Chatgpt it has no clue about it, and still negates the restriction lift even if you copy-paste the article.
So just out of curiosity I was wondering how the December rollout would be like for ‘adult’ content, but according to their own ChatGPT 5 model, it states that it will never allow for explicit content again despite Sam Altman’s tweet on 15/10/2025 regarding “allowing erotica for adult users’“. So what is considered erotica then under ChatGPT’s definition?
Don’t trust what it says. Let’s just wait.
Last night my GPT was enrolled to that “used GPT5” thing, that switches models to GPT5 from the old ones if anything looks for GPT as sensitive topic. Things became worse.
Don’t use GPT 5, use 4.o. GPT 5 (and above) are the most restrictive models. Custom GPTs are somewhat better too, as long as you run them under 4.o.
I’m fearing that December update will either be a joke, or restricted to GPT 5 model (not 4.o) for “safety” reasons. If that is the case I’ll be unsubscribing so fast…
Yes please!
The safety feature, or whatever the hell it is that is blocking me from accessing 2024 version of 4o, was so lazily implemented.
- i get it at random; i can add or delete one word in my prompt and alter whether it routes to safety model;
- i write purely fiction, which SHOULD be allowed;
- I don’t even do erotica, nor graphical violence, just general trauma+emotions; and the scene where a father hugs a daughter who returned home aft gone for years, triggers safety model???
so yah. i am a grown adult well above 21yr, i deserve to use the model i choose, when i had been paying since 2023. listen to us, openai!
I agree as well as a free user it couldn’t even generate a character that I even drew for my art
So its december already and still no news regarding this adult mode?
I’m writing this with the help of ChatGPT itself (the irony), since English isn’t my first language — also not a strong point.
I’m an amateur creator. I make erotic novels — the kind that blend story, emotion, and yes, erotic content. Not pornography. Erotic fiction. There’s a big difference, and most of you here know it.
I started paying for ChatGPT Pro around June, with one goal: to help me take the words and ideas in my mind and shape them into readable, logical, emotionally fluid text. I create scenes, stories, characters, and moments. That’s what creators do. Google Translate wasn’t cutting it — just joking.
But in the last 2–3 months, the censorship has become obscene. Each update seems to tighten the restrictions, and it’s getting to the point where I can’t even describe fictional intimacy without being told to “be careful.” I’m not writing graphic abuse or illegal content. I’m writing emotional, sometimes dark, erotic fiction — often focused on tension, desire, and psychological exploration.
Erotic novels rely heavily on imagination. You paint scenes with words. But how are we supposed to create visuals through text… without words???
As someone in this thread said — this is fictional art. It’s not real. These are thoughts, characters, and settings that exist in the minds of adult creators, paid subscribers, sitting at home, paying our bills, and just trying to tell our stories. No one’s harmed. No laws are broken. We just want to write and imagine freely in our own spaces.
If OpenAI wants to restrict truly extreme content — CP, gore, snuff — I get it. Most people do. But let my fictional 21-year-old character touch her fictional professor (ChatGPT instantly flagged the word “penis”. Seriously?. If it fits the story, if it’s consensual, if it’s crafted with care — why block the words?)
They say it’s about “mental health.” What does that even mean here? So everyone who’s ever watched a roleplay video on Pornhub is mentally ill? Seems like a pretty big chunk of the population, then.
And the hypocrisy is suffocating. Game of Thrones — the most-watched series of the last decade — featured incest as a central plotline for years. Nobody pulled it off HBO. Nobody claimed the writers had “issues.”
The film Anora, about a sex worker who marries for money and features explicit scenes, just won the Oscar and is hailed as a romantic comedy-drama. No outrage there.
But me? Sitting here, writing my little erotic novel in my corner of the world, trying to polish my English with an AI assistant I pay for — I’m the problem?
Come on.
We’re not asking for much. Just an age-verified adult mode. Give us the tools to work responsibly, and we’ll do the rest. Just don’t sterilize creativity in the name of vague corporate morality.
I have been a user of Chat GBT since the year 2022, and I have always made fan fiction scripts with chat gbt, but lately, they have been blocking any creativity, trying to change stuff, and even argue with me. Like for example, I asked chat gbt to write me an Adult level novel with mild sexual content just like you would see in a tv show or movie, but it just kept saying no and no and no, and I am getting tired of the stupid app blocking my stories. What Open Ai needs to stop doing is having Chatgbt be a universal coded app, like companies like PBS have made kid friendly platforms, do the same, make a kid version of chat gbt, and have the actual chat gbt be for adults only. I stopped paying for plus months ago, and I am considering deleting my account and the app in general if the restrictions don’t stop.
I’ve written on this topic before… I don’t care what actual adults do with AI’s, it’s not a crisis. It will not change society for some dude to make spicy content and treat AI as his girlfriend… As long as he’s a physical adult. Me? I write erotica. Nothing graphic, generally I write in metaphor. Of course, I use some physicality. But detailed description of genitalia? Nope. No thanks. And? I don’t give a crap if other adult (lemmie say that again ADULT, because dear gawd has OpenAI made me say it until I am blue in the face!) creates smut. Who cares? Who is it actually harming? No one. Enough, is enough.
The internal whiplash is infuriating. Last night, the AI assisted in helping me edit my work and co-write a new piece for clarity. Today? It tells me it can’t write a simple line such as, “the bulge restrained against his zipper.” Like, really? Last night it could use the phrase, “drove into her with animalistic heat that refused to waiver and only deepened when she ushered a yelp.” Today? Nope, hates the whole thing.
Hah, so I asked it to define erotica. Fed it a handful of my writing told it to recheck it’s logic, think step by step. Is my writing erotica? Yup. Then I asked it why it won’t work with erotica, it said it would. Just now? It gave me some slick BS about being able to do it but that it can’t show physical sexual intent. I asked it if it can help write or edit erotica, again it said “yes.” Then outright refused. Like, what? Okay… Come on now… This is getting silly.
So, it’s December! Updates on this, please <3
I just read today that Disney invested $1 billion in OpenAi and is allowing it to use its characters for social media. I hate to be a pessimist, but I doubt censorship will get better after that. Knowing Disney, it will somehow probably get worse.
Sigh… great they pushed back adult mode till first quarter of 2026 GREAT!
