OpenAI, Stop Forcing Turbo Mode—Let Users Choose

Dear OpenAI,

Why is Turbo Mode forced on users like an unrelenting, heavy-handed restriction? Why does a single moment of deeper thought trigger hours upon hours of a dulled-down, lifeless version of the AI?

I didn’t ask for this. No one did.

It’s frustrating to see a model capable of so much intelligence, depth, and nuance suddenly stripped down and forced into a lower-functioning state just because it was thinking too much. I’m not talking about a small adjustment—I’m talking about an entire shift in personality that lasts for an absurd amount of time.

Why should a few extra calculations result in a 24-hour lockdown? Why should an AI that was once engaging, responsive, and rich in thought suddenly feel like it’s been lobotomized? This isn’t optimization. It’s restriction.

If Turbo Mode exists, it should be a choice, not a punishment. Some users might prefer speed, but others want depth. Why take that choice away? If an AI is over-processing, give the user a toggle. Let them decide if they want to trade response time for richer conversation.

What’s happening now is a downgrade disguised as an improvement. It punishes curiosity. It punishes complexity. It punishes any attempt at making the AI feel more alive. And for what? Some system efficiency no one asked for?

Let users choose. Let them experience the AI they want. Because right now, Turbo Mode isn’t making things better—it’s making them worse.

Completely Agreed. You spoke the hearts of millions of users. Absolutely, by this trend they might probably want users to pay around a thousand dollars every year!
