OpenAI Start Up Fund

Hey,

I see OpenAI has a start up fund.

Is it reasonable to think that as long as I can think of a useful tool for the public, they might give me some amount of funding to build it?

Does it have to be a full-fledged company, or can the grant just support your living while you try to create a single application that could be used by the public in general?

I applied a while ago and haven’t heard anything. I suspect that, if they do award funding, they keep it silent and require NDAs. So, until or unless you’re contacted by them, we have no idea what will come out of it.
