Welp, this sucks. I personally though she was a great CTO. Ermira will be missed.

So many people online always like to complain and criticize about everything, I think she did great. I hope she was able to tune out those people. There are also nation state actors that’ll run demoralization campaigns with bot nets, similar to the XZ Utils open source case. Hopefully she was briefed on that possibility, her speech at Dartmouth was really good and the online comments distorted the real expression of the public.
In regards to “moving on”, yeah, that makes sense, after all, she was on a startup before OAI and startups are a lot of constant intense work, specially when the second startup got as big as it did. She certainly contributed in a world changing way, and hopefully she sees that.
I guess it depends on how you use AI, for some it might be used just as a tool, for others it can be so, so much more. Let’s hope she writes her next chapter as spectacular as the one she has just closed!
Change is a natural part of life, and while her departure will certainly make headlines, some media may exaggerate it as a major setback.
In reality, change is normal, and it’s not a tragedy for OpenAI.
I believe she’s an incredible person, and I wish her the best in her future endeavors.
