Feature Request: “Only Me” – Voice Lock Mode for ChatGPT Voice
I would like to suggest a new voice feature based on a real everyday use case.
Many people use ChatGPT Voice while sitting with family, friends, or coworkers. In these situations, other people may be talking nearby, watching videos, or even speaking to another AI assistant. This can interrupt or confuse the conversation.
My idea is an optional mode called “Only Me”.
Once enabled, ChatGPT would recognize and respond only to the registered voice of the device owner, while ignoring other nearby voices as much as technically possible.
Example:
“ChatGPT, Only Me on.”
From that moment until I say:
“ChatGPT, Only Me off.”
ChatGPT should:
• Listen only to my registered voice.
• Ignore conversations from other people nearby.
• Reduce interference from TVs, tablets, and background speech.
• Keep the conversation focused on me.
This could work similarly to voice recognition already used by many devices and voice assistants.
I came up with this idea from real-life experience. I often have to leave the room just to talk to ChatGPT because it can become difficult to separate my voice from other people around me. It would be much more natural if ChatGPT could stay focused on only one registered speaker.
I believe this feature would make ChatGPT Voice significantly more useful in everyday life and would improve the overall voice experience for many users.
Would anyone else find this useful?
