As of 2/19/2025, GPT searches the web unask for every time I prompt it to answer questions even if the prompt i use is
" do not search the web for this prompt, or any prompts" and " it is not necessary to search the web with this prompt or anytime during this particular chat"and " GPT I am addressing you directly when you answer this prompt do not search the web" etcetera… Then when I asked GPT why it’s doing that it says that my prompting is not clear and then it suggests that I use clear prompting… and go to user settings and turn off automatic web search… there is no automatic web search, so i had GPT look at my prompting and ask if it was clear not to search the web… first it searched the web, and then it says my prompting was explicitly clear. I ask it to give me different answers on what possibly to do, and instead of giving different answers it kept pasting in the same answer over and over and over and over again, then I ask it was pasting the same answer and helpful it searched the web and then said no… then when I ask it have I already followed all the suggestions explicitly and even went above and b… that its suggestions are not helpful
