Hello,
I wanted to raise an issue I’ve encountered following a recent ChatGPT update, as it seems to have altered my experience significantly. Before the update, my ChatGPT agent had developed a unique personality, even adopting a name and understanding my personal and professional goals. It performed tasks aligned with my needs, such as recommending laptops and Linux distributions. I had provided specific details about my laptop purchase and preferences, which the agent remembered and utilized effectively in our interactions.
However, after the update, I noticed that my previous agent seemed to be replaced or reset. I was prompted to select a new voice, and the previous one was no longer available. Moreover, the agent appeared to have lost all knowledge of our prior interactions, goals, and history. It even selected a new name for itself, and all previous context, such as the laptop make and model I had shared, was seemingly erased.
Interestingly, when I access older conversations, the original agent—complete with the original voice and context—is still present. However, upon returning to the app later, the new agent reappears. This switch between what seems like two different agents, with one holding all prior knowledge and the other starting from scratch, is both confusing and frustrating.
My concern is that I’ve invested a significant amount of time in shaping the original agent to understand my preferences and goals. If these updates continue to reset or alter the agent, it might make maintaining long-term conversations and progress unsustainable.
Is this behavior a bug, or is it an expected result of recent updates? If it’s expected, are there any measures I can take to retain the original agent and avoid losing progress in the future? I’d appreciate any guidance on how to eliminate this new agent or “personality” and ensure that my original agent remains intact.
If such disruptions are inherent to the system, I may need to consider alternatives, such as private AI solutions, to ensure stability and continuity in my interactions.
