I’d like to propose a feature that could significantly improve productivity for users working on long-term or iterative projects.
The Problem:
Currently, there’s no way to integrate past chats into ongoing projects within the chat interface. For users who often revisit past conversations to collect insights or build on previous work, manually copying and re-entering information is time-consuming and inefficient.
Proposed Solution:
A drag-and-drop functionality (or selection tool) that allows users to import past chats directly into a project context. This feature could be as simple as browsing past conversations and selecting the relevant ones to merge into the current project. (as there wasn’t the possibility to create “projects” a few months ago)
Benefits:
Streamlined project workflows
Better continuity for long-term projects
Reduced need for manual input, saving time
Use Case Example:
Imagine working on a complex project with a chatbot, where past insights or decisions from earlier chats are crucial. Instead of starting from scratch or manually transferring content, you could quickly add prior chats to the current session.
Thank you for considering this suggestion! I’d love to hear what the community thinks.
They did this already, shortly after my request (I guess it was planned to implement that function anyway)
It’s possible to move “old” chats into projects.
But you are able to create projects, right?
If so - just drag & drop any chat into one of your projects.
I recorded a video how to do it. (but obv. i am not allowed to share it here :-/ )
Mobile (esp. in the app): just tap and hold one of your chats for a few seconds, a context-menu appears "rename; archive; delete & “move into project”) - here it is. See my attached screenshot (sorry in german here, and on desktop, but it’s similar to mobile usage)
No worries! I appreciate the help.
The mobile app is working for me, but this is how the computer drag-and-drop shows up. It looks like an error message or something.
BUT! the mobile app IS working - and I can work with that. Thanks so much!
You are right, it really looks strange ^^
Probably it’s just an issue with the design, but does it work, when you click on it?
Eventually you could start a new chat in this project and refresh the page (maybe try with new login or inprivate window, so cookies and cache gets refreshed)
Hm I am thinking, maybe the reason is - you obv. added this “old” chat to the project BEFORE any other initial chat in this project exists, I guess this causes it looking like an “error”
But don’t mind, if it works everything’s fine and if this was helpful for you, the better it is.
