Hello,
I’d like to propose a feature direction that could significantly enhance both developer experience and everyday usability, based on recent user feedback and real-world friction points
Today, ChatGPT is split across multiple environments, including the desktop app, the web version, and Codex. This separation makes the experience feel fragmented and, at times, inconsistent. One of the most impactful improvements would be to fully merge Codex and ChatGPT into a single unified product, with a shared interface and capabilities. This fusion would allow users to move seamlessly between conversational AI and code-oriented workflows without switching tools or losing context
More broadly, there is a strong opportunity to evolve ChatGPT into a kind of cloud desktop, a central workspace where everything connects and runs through one interface. Instead of being just an assistant, ChatGPT could become the layer that sits on top of the user’s entire digital environment, bringing together tools, data, and actions in a unified way
A key limitation raised by several users is the lack of integrations. Currently, it is difficult to connect ChatGPT, whether on desktop or web, to commonly used tools like Notion, Google Drive, and other essential services. This makes it harder to integrate ChatGPT into real workflows, and reduces its practical value in professional contexts
It would be extremely valuable to introduce a centralized hub for extensions and third-party applications, designed as an open ecosystem. This hub could act as a cloud-based marketplace of connectors, where developers can build, share, and maintain integrations. Over time, this would enable the creation of a strong community-driven ecosystem, allowing ChatGPT to connect with virtually any tool
The combination of these elements, a unified interface, the merger of Codex and ChatGPT, and an open integrations hub, would move the product toward a true all-in-one experience. Users would no longer need to jump between platforms, and developers would have a clear framework to extend capabilities in a scalable way
I strongly believe that the future of ChatGPT lies in this convergence. Turning it into a unified, extensible, and connected workspace would unlock much deeper usage and adoption
Thank you very much for your time and consideration, and for the continuous improvements made to the platform
Sam
