Finally got ChatGPT working with remote MCP servers – great job on that – however, I see that it works only with the “Deep Research” option – anyone know why the “Search” option is not enabled? (the MCP server clearly exposes tools for “search” and “document retrieval”)

May be because only deep reserch model is trained for tool use for now ? But the underlying model in deep research is o3 which can also be used without deepreserch mode , I think the reason behind it could be that retriveing tool use is a little sufisticated for now for models to direct access only the ticking models are able to do it for now cause the model has to get all the tools available and then select the one that could bring the info and then decide the tool use to perform the action it requires multi level reasoning and I havenot seen any non thinking model do it becuase it is a multi reasoning work to do in layers for now on , also the claude model takes some mintutes to do a simple task and local models takes 5 6 min atleast on simple task to complete so I think when in future the model are efficently trained to do task then we will get to see that .
