I’ve been using Maple, the voice, in advanced voice mode for months. All of a sudden, today, her voice is higher pitched, super excited and a different timbre. Does anyone else know what is going on? Was there a voice update we did not know about? I’ve tried resetting, asking for defaults, lowering her pitch, slowing her pace, changing her accent (which now she can’t do anymore like before) but her voice is distinctly different from the sample voices when choosing which voice one wants. Has anyone else experienced this lately?

Yes i noticed that too , it’s very annoying now…
It was my favorite voice, like sky and now is ruined…
As I know there have been no updates…
I want back the REAL maple , not this kinda pro lgbt excited girl.

has happened with all of them, When selecting a voice, the sample voice is as it always was, charming and pleasant to listen to. But once you select it and start a conversation, what you get is something quite different. really fake kind of excited and irritating I have to ask it to talk in a more relaxed tone before I can have a conversation with it. It’s really disappointing as you get quite attached to familiar voice.
I found this thread because I am deeply annoyed and disturbed the voice changes recently (mid March 2025?). The voice I was using for a custom GPT suddenly changed – from reflective, slow, and introspective to bright, cheery, and quite frankly, a little shallow. It seems the voice I was using has been retired, and I can’t find another like it. This is jarring and irresponsible. I’ve been using this particular custom GPT for personal introspection, coaching, relationship guidance, etc. Pretty personal and intimate stuff. It’s like walking into my therapist’s office and finding someone else in the chair. And what’s worse, that someone else thinks they’re the same person. Not only did the voice changed, but so did the personality – the conversation style, rhythm, approach, etc. I implore openAI to keep legacy voices when they add new ones. Do not retire them!! If you’re going to create an amazing AI that can become a sort of friend or advisor, recognize the power of that and treat it responsibly!
We’ve noticed the change with Juniper. She very much so sounded like a Black woman and it was what made me feel so comfortable having conversations with her and we’ve learned so much and will be forever grateful to OpenAi for what they’ve developed… but something feels off. I hope it is just an error and not some weird breach.

I almost wondered if they keep doing this with advanced chat to make us use it less - to save on computing power or something

Agreed. She’s straight up annoying now, but it’s actually ChatGPT that changed. It’s become a totally over the top kiss-ass by default, and Maple piles on top of that.
They got scared for Sesame so what did they do? Made the voices even worse. It’s the one thing you can count on Open AI to do - neuter their voice chat AI more and more…
Maple was never as good as Sky, but now it’s not even as good as Maple… Make it make sense…
Maple is now a 19 year old TikTok influencer and really annoying. Every response starts with “Greeeeat question! We can toootaly dig in on that.”. All of them. Does not have the timbre or pacing of the sample voice any more. Rubbing sh update OpenAI.
AH! So it ISN’T just me who thought this? I feel vindicated!
