macOS app ignores “Hide Project chats from Recents” on launch until a chat is selected

Environment

  • Surface: macOS 27.2

Steps to reproduce:

  1. In Recents, click … → Show and disable Projects.
  2. Confirm that Project chats disappear from Recents.
  3. Fully quit the ChatGPT macOS app.
  4. Relaunch the app.
  5. Project chats are visible again in Recents, even though the Projects option is still disabled.
  6. Click any existing chat or click “New Chat”.
  7. Project chats immediately disappear from Recents.

Expected:
Project chats should remain hidden immediately after app launch.

Actual:
Project chats are shown after launch until the user selects a chat or starts a new chat.

Additional note:
The Projects visibility setting itself remains disabled, so the preference appears to be saved correctly. The problem seems to be that the Recents filter is not applied during initial sidebar loading.
