Think of it like a professional senior dev who is grumpy and lazy - looks at your code - says “yeah I understand that code fully” explains it to you and when you ask him to change the code makes a couple of lines, then drinks a bottle of whisky, then writes more lines, drinks another bottle, doesn’t listen to what you tell him, forgets what you want.. and you will start yelling and crying after a day or two…

Hmm or maybe in agentic workflows. I mean a senior developer is not really there to write code. It has the general overview and it is really impressive in that regard.
So a combination of o3 and then switching to gpt4.1 in coding that is the way to go.
I mean I used it for a programming session and it came out to 140$ for roughly 30 hours (?? that is a wild guess) and it feels like a huge rip off.
So use it to plan code and to understand code but not for coding itself.
On top of that I must say deepresearch with gpt4o on a topic and then programming with that is way better than the combination of o3 and gpt4.1 - at least the first couple prompts and answers.
