Hi OpenAI Team and Community,
I’m a developer working on a multi-year programming project, and I’ve been loving ChatGPT’s capabilities. However, one thing holding me back is the lack of persistent memory across sessions. For complex projects, it’d be amazing if ChatGPT could remember details—like code, structure, and decisions—over the long term, rather than resetting each time. Imagine a “Context Menu” feature where I could upload files from an Xcode project (e.g., .swift files) and have ChatGPT retain them across sessions. This would cut down on repetition and supercharge productivity for devs like me working on evolving codebases.
It feels like this could fit perfectly with OpenAI’s goal of empowering innovative work. Any chance we could see something like this in a future update? I’d love to hear thoughts from the team or fellow devs—happy to elaborate on my use case if it helps!
Thanks for the awesome tool, and keep up the great work!
Best
