Why has gpt-4 stopped working? I do not understand why I can no longer use this when I am paying for this service
Is this some kind of glitch? Everything works!
You are a subscriber to ChatGPT Plus at $20 per month, and nothing has changed about your subscription? You are trying to use ChatGPT?
I’ll bet “stopped working” is that they put gpt-4 under a sub-menu “more models”, where its expense to OpenAI is intentionally hard to find.
If it is API, there are myriad possibilities, like maybe you selected the “personal” organization in your account instead of the one that has made payments…
More clarity about what you are doing would be required.

chatgpt.com is the only web site of the official chat bot. Log in there. Under your personal icon at top-right, check “my plan”, and see if you are subscribed to plus.
There are many deceptive apps or sites about.
You also may be unsubscribed (and refunded if detected soon after) if your connection or payment is associated with an unsupported country.
In a brand new ChatGPT account, the drop-down list has models like gpt-4o and gpt-4o-mini, along with the “o1-preview” model. Further down a more models option that may be expanded. It’s possible if you have exactly that and no “gpt-4” showing anywhere in models, you may be the first to report they are not turning it on for new subscribers.
That should not be the case with this in the plan upgrade window:
Access to OpenAI o1-preview, OpenAI o1-mini
Access to GPT-4o, GPT-4o mini, GPT-4
Up to 5x more messages for GPT‑4o
I am having the same issue, I am subscriber, and have been using ChatGPT 4.o and have been getting charged, but today I logged in and nothing shows in the drop down and its telling me I have to Upgrade…and they are telling me I have to wait 3 business days for a response? I use it daily, and all of the time of working is gone, very disappointing…can you help?
I had the same, I’m almost out of the month I paid, but won’t renew it, as I couldn’t use. Every time I wanted to use my paid subscription it sad: You have reached the maximum number of prompts you can send per day.
If i registered a new free one it worked, yes not on the same quality… but the paid version didn’t worked at all. Sad, as i planned to use it continuously… Now I changed my mind.
Support couldn’t helped to solve the issue… Adn I didn’t had the time for it…
The only model that should have such a daily limit in ChatGPT Plus would be the o1-mini model, a new model that is offered as a technology preview of reasoning.
Ensure you are selecting gpt-4o (still has an “o”, but not the same) for up to 80 per three hours, or gpt-4 in ‘other models’ for twice the intelligence with a halved limit.

I just had a similar problem. I just signed up TODAY for Chapgpt Plus and paid $20. Nevertheless after just chatting back and forth for a while, I got the message that I only had 25 replies left from ChatGPT or if I hit the limit, responses would be ‘switched to another model’ until it reset a week later. Don’t get it. What does that even mean - switched to another model? And is this system based then upon how many responses ChatGPT can make within a certain amount of time? What is the actual limit - within a day, a week, a month???
