Issue with Right-to-Left Text Alignment in the Prompt Box

Dear OpenAI Team,

I have encountered an issue when writing in Persian (Farsi) in the prompt box. While ChatGPT correctly recognizes Persian in its responses and displays them right-aligned, the input field does not apply right-to-left (RTL) alignment properly. This results in a disorienting experience when composing messages.

Issue Details:

  • When I type in Persian, the text remains left-aligned instead of switching to right-aligned.
  • Even if I start with a Persian character, the alignment does not change.
  • Standard methods to enforce RTL (e.g., inserting U+200F, using Ctrl + Shift + Right) do not work in the input field.
  • The issue persists across different browsers and devices.

Why This Matters:

Persian, like Arabic and Hebrew, is an RTL language, and proper alignment is essential for readability and usability. This misalignment makes it difficult to structure sentences properly and disrupts the writing flow. Since the response box correctly applies RTL, it seems like a UI inconsistency rather than a fundamental limitation.

Suggested Fix:

  • Implement automatic RTL detection in the input field, similar to how the response box handles it.
  • Provide a manual toggle for users to switch between LTR and RTL when needed.

I truly appreciate your work, and I hope this can be addressed soon for a smoother experience for Persian-speaking users. Looking forward to your response!
