Dear OpenAI Team,
Thank you for your response and for taking the time to review and pass along my previous feedback.
I would like to clarify one point to avoid any misunderstanding.
My request is not related to explicit or pornographic content. My primary goal is to use ChatGPT as a reliable tool for writing fiction, similar to how other users rely on it for coding or technical work.
At present, the level of filtering applied to tone, dialogue, and narrative expression makes it difficult to maintain a natural writing workflow. Even when working within non-pornographic boundaries, responses may become overly simplified or constrained.
This creates a practical limitation for creative use.
The requirement is for controlled flexibility within safe limits, including:
- non-pornographic adult literary tone
- more natural and context-appropriate dialogue intensity
- metaphorical and symbolic expression
- suggestive, non-graphic narrative atmosphere
- consistent narrative voice without excessive sanitization
These elements are part of standard fiction writing and can be supported without crossing into restricted categories.
From a product perspective, this is not a request to reduce safety, but to better balance safety with usability in clearly non-explicit contexts.
To address this, I would like to restate a structured proposal:
A toggle-based expression system that allows controlled expansion of tone and style while maintaining all existing safeguards against disallowed content.
For example:
- a default standard mode (unchanged safety behavior)
- an optional creative mode for adult users
- expanded expressive range within non-explicit boundaries
- continued enforcement of strict policy limits
This would allow safe usage to remain intact while enabling practical creative workflows.
Additionally, improving the system’s ability to distinguish between explicit content and non-pornographic adult literary expression may help reduce unnecessary restrictions and external misunderstandings.
As a separate point, I would again recommend that previously explored directions related to adult-oriented systems (such as Citron) are preserved at a technical or planning level, even if they are currently deferred. These may still hold future relevance for creative users.
I understand that policies are an essential part of the system. However, excessive constraint at the tone and expression level can unintentionally reduce usability in non-sensitive contexts. A more balanced calibration would improve the overall experience without increasing risk.
To summarize:
- enable controlled, non-pornographic adult literary expression
- reduce over-sanitization in tone and dialogue where appropriate
- introduce a toggle-based system for expressive flexibility
- improve balance between policy enforcement and usability
- preserve deferred initiatives for future consideration
My goal is simply to continue using ChatGPT as a practical and reliable tool for writing fiction.
Thank you again for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Seongok Park
