Subject: Hidden Monthly Image Generation Cap on ChatGPT Plus
Hi OpenAI Support,
I’m a long-time ChatGPT Plus subscriber and recently ran into a frustrating and undisclosed usage limit on DALL·E 3 image generation.
While I understand and accept the posted limits of:
- 40 prompts per 3 hours
- 200 images per day
…nowhere on your site, in the app, or in any official documentation was it disclosed that there’s also a monthly cap—which in my case seems to be around 75 prompts. Once that was hit, image generation was abruptly cut off with no prior warning and no prompt counter to indicate how close I was to the limit.
This kind of undocumented throttling borders on deceptive omission and makes it very difficult to plan creative work or rely on the tool as advertised. I’m asking for:
- A published explanation of all image generation limits, including monthly caps.
- A visible counter or usage tracker to help manage these limits.
- Consideration of a credit or account extension, given the lack of disclosure.
I’m not the only user frustrated by this—others are hitting the same invisible wall. I’d like to see OpenAI take the lead in transparency here. I’m hopeful this can be addressed fairly and clearly.
