How to stop openai from completing the prompt

My chatbot will sometimes be asked half questions, and openai will complete the question and provide a reponse although it is completely off.

Is there a way to force openai to only respond if a prompt is “complete”, and if not, force it to question the user to clarify?

Not really. But if you put a newline after the prompt it won’t try to complete it and will try to answer whatever was attempted as a question
