I’d like to suggest a feature for ChatGPT: conversation highlighting with a mini-map.
In long conversations, it can become difficult to find important information that was discussed earlier. It would be really useful to have a highlighter that lets users mark important messages or specific parts of a response.
A small conversation mini-map/sidebar, similar to the minimap found in code editors, could then show where all highlighted points are located throughout the conversation. Clicking a highlight on the mini-map would instantly jump to that part of the conversation.
Possible features:

Highlight specific text or entire messages.

Assign different colors to highlights.

Show highlights as markers on a conversation mini-map.

Click a marker to jump directly to that section.

Optionally add a short label/note to each highlight.

Allow users to filter or remove highlights.
This would be especially helpful for long research sessions, studying, project planning, and conversations containing lots of important information.
I think it could make navigating long ChatGPT conversations significantly easier.
