Hello, I hope you’re doing good.
I would love the ability to highlight specific words, sentences, or paragraphs in ChatGPT’s responses and attach personal notes to them.
It would be helpful if users could:
- Highlight text in different colours to distinguish important ideas, unfamiliar vocabulary, and memorable passages.
- Add comments or annotations to selected text, much as students annotate books or PDFs.
- Save highlighted passages in a personal collection for later revision.
- Search and revisit annotations across previous conversations.
Why this would be useful
ChatGPT is increasingly used as a learning environment, not merely as a chatbot. Students use it to study languages, understand complex concepts, prepare for examinations, and explore subjects independently.
Currently, preserving a particular sentence or adding a personal note often requires copying the text into another application. Native annotation tools would make the learning process much more seamless.
For example, a language learner could highlight an unfamiliar word, write its definition beside it, and review it later. A student studying music could annotate an explanation of a composer’s style without losing the original conversation.
I believe this feature would make ChatGPT considerably more useful for education, research, and long-term personal learning.
Thank you for considering this suggestion.
