They did that about 2 week after the 5.6 release, you should have 5 hours if you use 5.4 or 5.5, or that’s what support says. But you’re more than likely not using 5.5 or 5.4, 5.4 turns off on the 31st, and if you are not using Low reasoning - or 5.6 - you now get 5.6 Sol.
I completely understand having a 5-hour usage limit, but after those 5 hours I should be able to use Codex again once the limit resets. Instead, every time I hit the limit, I see a message saying it will reset in 6 days, which makes it impossible to work.
At the moment, I’m switching between Codex and Claude Code just to keep my projects moving, but I prefer using Codex and would like to use it as my main coding assistant.
Could you please look into this or escalate it to the appropriate team? I have deadlines for my projects, and under the current situation it’s very difficult to meet them.

The actual issue is not a hidden five-hour limit. The more likely solution is to examine your token usage more closely to get more out of your Plus subscription.
When limits are reached very quickly, it usually helps to identify which tasks are using the most tokens. For example, workflows that pull in a lot of context, make many tool calls, and/or spawn multiple subagents.
You can also select a lower reasoning effort or use cheaper models entirely.
I’m sorry, but this still does not clearly explain the issue.
I have been experiencing this for more than a month. I use Codex for one development session, and then I am suddenly blocked and told to wait almost an entire week. It is difficult to understand how one normal session could consume a full weekly allowance.
To be clear, Codex does not show me a separate 5-hour limit or a detailed weekly usage breakdown. I cannot see:
My exact weekly allowance
How much each session consumed
Which requests or tasks used the quota
The exact reset date and time
Why one session appears to consume the entire weekly limit
Claude Code clearly separates its session limit from its weekly limit and shows the usage status for both. With Codex, the information is not equally clear or transparent.
Simply saying that my weekly limit has been exhausted is not enough. Please provide the actual usage data for my account and explain how the limit was calculated. I need evidence showing what my weekly allowance is, when it was consumed, and which activity consumed it.
I have been reporting this issue for weeks, and I still do not have a clear answer. Is this expected behaviour for all Plus users, or is there a problem specific to my account?
OpenAI announced Codex usage in a particular way, but my actual experience appears to be very different. Developers use this tool for professional work and deadlines, so usage limits and reset rules need to be fully visible and transparent.
Please escalate this to the appropriate team and provide a concrete, account-specific explanation rather than a general assumption.
