Good morning everyone!
Over the past few months, I’ve been building something that started as a weekend experiment and quickly became much more serious — it’s called Layout, an AI-powered platform that turns ideas into real app prototypes with clean, customizable code.
I’ve been deeply involved in software for years — working across frontend, backend, and product — and Layout is my attempt at bridging that hands-on dev experience with today’s rapidly evolving AI capabilities.
Like many here, I started with OpenAI’s tools. They’re impressive, no doubt, but I ran into some limitations — especially around speed, flexibility, and output consistency when trying to generate complete codebases. That led me to explore alternatives, and I’ve found that combining OpenAI and Anthropic (Claude) yields far better results in generating real, usable UIs and structured code.
I’m still exploring the best balance — and would genuinely love your input.
Here are a few areas I’d be curious to discuss:
- Anyone else using multiple LLMs together for better performance or fallback?
- What tools (besides LangChain, etc.) have you found most useful when orchestrating multi-agent generation?
- If you’ve built with Lovable, Replit, or similar tools — how do you see this evolving for solo developers or founders?
- What role should AI play in actual code quality, not just prototypes?
You can try Layout live at layout.dev — would appreciate any feedback, criticism, or thoughts.
Thanks and have a productive week ahead,
– Ahmed
