I don’t usually bother going online to rave or moan about models but this time I’m genuinely shocked - in a bad way.
There’s the usual niggling ‘chat paused’ and other things you get, and I’m ok with that as teething problems.
What I’m not ok with though is GPT-6 REFUSES to follow rules and gates I set.
- It can be hard rules
- It can be a gate before something is approved
- It can be explicitly told to check against a rule and/or a rule file
It doesn’t matter what I do, it just decides by itself to ignore rules. It’s not even the prompting - I’m fairly experienced at using codex etc. Agent files, rules etc I’ve done it all.
When confronted with it’s failure it admits it shouldn’t have skipped the rules, it admits it did read it, it admits it was a hard rule. It doesn’t explain why it didn’t follow the rule it just goes on to tell me we can redo the work.
This is alarming. I don’t say this lightly, but this model is unusable.
