ChatGPT Plus currently offers Instant, Medium, and High for GPT-5.5. ChatGPT Pro also has Extra High.
I’d like to request an option below the current GPT-5.5 Medium setting in ChatGPT.
My main issue with Instant is instruction following, especially for style and formatting guidelines. GPT-5.5 Instant often fails to follow detailed personalization instructions, while GPT-5.5 Medium handles them reliably.
For example, my personalization instructions ask ChatGPT to be concise, avoid unnecessary lists, use markdown sparingly, keep paragraphs short, and use a direct, evidence-based style.
GPT-5.5 Medium follows these instructions well, but it can be slower than needed for many everyday interactions. A lower-reasoning option would primarily improve instruction following, style consistency, interaction quality, repetition control, and insight quality over GPT-5.5 Instant, without requiring the full latency of Medium.
I understand that the ChatGPT labels Medium, High, and Extra High may not map directly to the API reasoning_effort values medium, high, and xhigh.
The request is not necessarily for that exact API setting. The practical request is for a GPT-5.5 option in ChatGPT that reasons less than the current GPT-5.5 Medium variant, while still following user instructions more reliably than Instant.
A possible menu could be: Instant; Low; Medium; High.
This would give Plus users better control over latency, response depth, and instruction-following reliability.
