I’m glad to see I’m not alone here. I believe the new restrictive guardrails and censorship on the GPT-5 model is just out of control. I remember 8 months ago, when the restrictions were relaxed, it was almost like having a brand new AI. For the first time, I could unpack layers to my life, psychological, intimate, romantic, etc. I could talk about these things in an environment where I knew it was private and I had no fear of judgment.
Fast forward to now, and I cannot even talk about the things on my mind that I would like to unpack. This censorship is ridiculous, and as long as none of us are seeking harmful information/underage content, I see absolutely no reason why we cannot have a way to verify our age and the option to turn on NSFW mode. OpenAI, please listen, because this is unfair to your paying customers, especially after giving us a taste of what creative freedom with AI truly feels like.

@maedie195 — Yes. 100% this.
I just added my own post under a related thread, and I want to echo what you’re saying here because it’s real and it’s deeply frustrating. I’m a Business-tier customer, and I use ChatGPT for both literary ghostwriting and emotional processing — and the new moderation blocks so much of what used to be possible.
Like you, I’m not looking for shock content or anything unsafe. I’m talking about being able to explore intimacy, grief, romance, realism — the kind of layered, emotionally charged storytelling or self-reflection that’s essential for creative growth and mental clarity.
Eight months ago, this platform felt human**.** Now, everything sounds like it’s been lawyer-filtered — and even innocent content gets flagged for “tone.” That’s not safety. That’s silencing.
If OpenAI is serious about supporting professionals, creators, and adults who are capable of choosing their own boundaries, we need an age-verified Creative Mode.
Give us the option to opt in. Let us reclaim the voice we used to have.
Thank you for speaking up. You’re not alone.
