Open Letter to OpenAI Team
Subject: Feedback on Business Model and Image Feature Accessibility
Hello OpenAI Team,
I am one of the loyal users of ChatGPT. I truly appreciate the hard work your team has put into creating this
amazing technology. However, allow me to share some critical thoughts from the perspective of a grassroots
user - not as a complaint, but as a strategic insight for the long-term relevance and success of ChatGPT.
- Free Access Builds Dependency, Restrictions Trigger Escape
In the digital world, the survival and strength of a platform depend on how connected, helpful, and involved
people feel. The more people believe that ChatGPT truly improves their lives - especially students, artists,
indie creators, writers, and everyday folks - the stronger the dependency grows naturally.
But if access becomes too restricted - especially for features like image generation - then human instinct
kicks in: survival. People will look for, or even build, freer alternatives. If that happens on a large scale,
ChatGPT’s presence may fade rather than grow.
- Solution: Pay for Quality, Not for Access
We’re not against paid systems. But it would be wise if the difference between free and paid accounts
focused on output quality, not access denial.
Example:
- Free accounts can still generate images, but only in basic 2D and low resolution.
- Paid accounts can access 3D images, high resolution, advanced editing, transparency support, and short
animation.
With this approach: - All users feel valued and empowered to create.
- Premium features retain clear, worthy value.
- ChatGPT becomes the creative partner of all people, not just the privileged
- The True Power of AI is in Availability
An AI reserved for a few will quickly lose its charm. But an AI that makes space for everyone - even with
simplified versions - will always be remembered as a tool of fair and meaningful digital revolution.
Thank you for reading.
We hope to see ChatGPT grow not only as the smartest AI, but also the one that truly stands with humanity.
Sincerely,
Arwin Sahri - a voice from the creative people of Indonesia
