Not all users need full AI synthesis for deep searches. Many of us—especially those using ChatGPT for cognitive support, healthcare, or research—just want links or source pathways. Requiring a premium subscription for simple link retrieval adds unnecessary cost.
Please consider a “Research-Lite” toggle or a source-only query prefix (e.g., LINKS: or SOURCE-ONLY:) to give users control over when synthesis is needed. This could reduce system load, lower barriers for cost-sensitive populations (e.g., Medicare/Medicaid users), and make ChatGPT more flexible and equitable.
Thank you for considering this improvement. I’m using ChatGPT as part of a broader strategy for cognitive support in neurodegenerative conditions, and this feature would greatly expand accessibility and utility.
