Feature Request: Show Date and Time on Each ChatGPT Message

Feature Request: Show Date and Time on Each ChatGPT Message

I would like to suggest adding timestamps to ChatGPT conversations.

It would be very useful if each user and assistant message displayed the date and time it was sent, similar to messaging apps such as LINE.

For example:

2026/08/09 10:13

In addition, when a conversation continues across multiple days, it would be helpful to automatically insert a visible date separator such as:

— August 10, 2026 —

This would make long-running conversations much easier to review and understand chronologically.

This feature would be especially useful for:

  • Work logs and daily business records

  • Long-running project discussions

  • Conversations that continue across several days

  • Reviewing when a decision, idea, or event was discussed

  • Distinguishing between events that happened on different days

ChatGPT conversations are increasingly used not only as question-and-answer sessions, but also as ongoing workspaces and records of thought. In those cases, knowing exactly when each exchange occurred becomes valuable context.

Ideally, timestamps could be displayed in a subtle way so they do not clutter the interface, or there could be an option to show or hide them.

Thank you for considering this feature.
