I would like to suggest adding stronger privacy controls for sensitive ChatGPT conversations and Memory.
ChatGPT can contain extremely personal information about users. However, if someone gains access to an unlocked device or an account, they may potentially be able to view conversations and information stored in Memory.
I believe ChatGPT should provide an optional privacy layer such as:
- Lock individual conversations with a PIN, password, fingerprint, or Face ID.
- Allow users to move sensitive conversations into a Private/Locked Chats section.
- Most importantly, allow users to protect Memory with separate authentication, because Memory can contain highly personal information accumulated over a long period of time.
- Ideally, allow users to choose which memories are private and require authentication before viewing, editing, or deleting them.
This would be particularly useful for people who share devices or even use the same ChatGPT account with another person.
I believe privacy should not depend only on securing the entire account. Users should also have control over which specific conversations and memories are protected.
A feature like this would make ChatGPT significantly more secure and privacy-friendly.
