When working inside a ChatGPT Project, please always display both:
Project name › Current conversation title
in the persistent top header.
Currently, it can be difficult to immediately identify which conversation is open, especially in larger Projects containing many separate chats for different workstreams.
For professional and analytical work, a Project may contain conversations such as:
- Business Context
- Business Processes
- Requirements
- Use Cases
- Data Model
- Integrations
- UI / Prototype
- Review
When switching between several conversations, the Project name alone is not enough context.
Proposed UI
A persistent breadcrumb in the header:
Project name › Conversation title
For example:
IS Analysis › 07 – Integrations
The breadcrumb should remain visible while scrolling.
Benefits
- clearer navigation inside large Projects
- immediate confirmation of the active conversation
- lower risk of entering information into the wrong chat
- better usability for long-running professional projects
- easier work with multiple project conversations open during the day
A similar request was previously raised in the OpenAI Community:

That thread was closed after OpenAI Support acknowledged the feedback, but the requested behavior does not appear to be available yet.
