Feature Request: Native Multi-Task Progress Panel for Codex Desktop

I would like Codex Desktop to provide a native multi-task progress and control panel. The panel should automatically read each task’s real internal task state: whether it is running, its current stage, recent activity, whether it is waiting for user input, and whether it has completed, failed, or is blocked. This information should come from Codex itself rather than manually updated local files. It should support both expanded and collapsed views for monitoring many tasks. In the expanded view, users should see detailed stage progress and recent updates. In the collapsed view, users should see a compact summary of each task.It should also provide per-task and global controls: Pause, Resume, and Cancel. A pause request does not need to terminate an in-flight tool call; it can take effect after the current operation returns and prevent the next step.If exposing this capability to third-party local applications is not appropriate, please implement the panel natively in Codex Desktop. Otherwise, a secure, permission-scoped interface for reading task state and sending task-control actions would allow users to build their own local interfaces. The attached images show the requested expanded and collapsed panel states.

Please refer to the two attached images below for the proposed expanded and collapsed panel designs.

You can already follow multiple chat states through the desktop pet activity tray: https://learn.chatgpt.com/docs/pets. We’ll pass along the richer progress panel and safe pause/resume controls. No timeline to share.
