I’m using the new unified ChatGPT desktop app with Chat, Work, and Codex.
In the standalone Codex desktop app, when an agent is working, I can see a live progress panel showing items such as:
- “Working for 2m 11s”
- Current activity
- Commands being run
- Context compaction
- Ongoing task status
How do I get that same live progress view inside the unified ChatGPT desktop app?
I tried sending the task as a goal, but the app treated my message as a separate short goal, completed it in a few seconds, and displayed “Goal achieved.” It did not show or attach to the Codex task already running in the standalone Codex app.
My questions are:
- Can the unified ChatGPT app display the live progress of a task started in the standalone Codex desktop app?
- Do I need to start the task directly inside the unified app?
- Is there a specific mode, setting, command, or project/thread connection required?
- Are Codex tasks synchronized across the standalone Codex app and the unified ChatGPT app?
- Is this feature currently available on Windows?
I am not asking about mobile remote control. I only want the unified desktop app to show the same live Codex working/progress panel that appears in the Codex desktop app.
