Hello everyone,
I would like to share a real-world use case and suggest a potential improvement for ChatGPT.
I work with socio-environmental projects in Brazil, where video documentation plays a key role in monitoring, evaluation, and reporting field activities.
Recently, we conducted a practical test of a low-cost sustainable solution (a roof made from recycled PET bottles), and we recorded the process as part of our documentation. I attempted to use ChatGPT to analyze the video by sharing a public Google Drive link (“anyone with the link can view”).
However, ChatGPT was not able to access or analyze the video content.
Expected workflow
Public Google Drive link → ChatGPT accesses the video → analyzes the content
(e.g., scene description, activity identification, evaluation, summaries)
Current limitation
Even with a fully public link, video content cannot be accessed or processed.
This creates a gap between real-world documentation (which is increasingly visual) and the platform’s current capabilities.
Why this matters
In projects like ours, video is essential for:
-
documenting results
-
validating field solutions
-
reporting to partners and funders
-
sharing knowledge with communities
Suggested improvement
Enable ChatGPT to:
-
access videos from public links (Google Drive and similar platforms)
-
perform basic video understanding and analysis
-
optionally use frame-based interpretation or previews
Final note
This feature would significantly expand ChatGPT’s usefulness in real-world, field-based applications, especially in education, sustainability, and community projects.
Thank you for considering this suggestion.
