Feature Request: Emergency Assistance Through ChatGPT. I would like to propose a new safety feature for ChatGPT that could help users during medical emergencies or other life-threatening situations when they are unable to call for help themselves. The feature could allow ChatGPT, with the user’s prior permission and appropriate safety safeguards, to contact emergency services when a serious emergency is detected and the user cannot communicate or request help. With clear consent settings, secure handling of location data, and safeguards to prevent accidental calls, this could help people who live alone or anyone facing a sudden medical crisis, and who might not be able to dial emergency services themselves. I’d be grateful if OpenAI could consider this idea or share whether there is a pathway for outside collaborators to work on such safety features. My intention is to contribute something that could help save lives, including exploring responsible ways to develop or license it.
