Feature Request: Contextual Explain and Expand Option

I would like to suggest introducing a contextual explanation feature within ChatGPT.

Users should be able to highlight a specific portion of an assistant’s response, right-click it or open a contextual menu, and select options such as:

  • Explain this section in simpler terms.
  • Provide a practical example.
  • Elaborate further.
  • Explain using an academic or technical approach.
  • Demonstrate with a worked example.

The explanation should appear as a supplementary response without altering, replacing or interrupting the original answer or conversation flow.

This would be particularly valuable for students, researchers and professionals who use ChatGPT as a learning and reference tool.

The objective is to allow users to explore individual concepts in greater depth without having to restart or redirect an otherwise useful conversation.

I believe this would significantly improve ChatGPT’s educational value and overall user experience.
