Feature Request: Chat Export & Memory Backup

Hi OpenAI Team and fellow users,

I’ve been using ChatGPT extensively for deep discussions, research, and long-term interactions. However, one of the biggest limitations is the inability to export chat history, retain long-term memory, and integrate cloud backups for easy reference.

Many users, including myself, rely on ChatGPT not just as a casual chatbot, but as a digital companion and knowledge assistant. However, without proper ways to save and recall past conversations, the user experience remains fragmented.

:small_blue_diamond: Three Key Features That Would Greatly Improve ChatGPT

:one: One-Click Chat Export (TXT / PDF / JSON)
• A built-in option to download past conversations for personal records, learning, and review.
• This would eliminate the need for users to manually copy-paste chats, making information retention effortless.

:two: Long-Term Memory or Searchable Chat History
• If full memory retention is too complex, at least allow searching within past conversations to retrieve valuable insights.
• Users should be able to quickly find past discussions without scrolling through entire chat logs.

:three: Cloud Backup Integration (Google Drive / Notion / Evernote)
• An automatic or manual backup feature that lets users save conversations to third-party services.
• Ensuring that valuable discussions are preserved, organized, and easily accessible.

:small_blue_diamond: Why This Matters?

For power users who rely on ChatGPT as a knowledge base, research tool, or personal AI companion, these features are essential for productivity, learning, and long-term engagement.

:small_blue_diamond: ChatGPT should be more than just a one-time interaction—it should support ongoing, evolving conversations.
:small_blue_diamond: The ability to export, search, and back up chats would greatly enhance usability and make ChatGPT a truly indispensable tool.
